The driving force behind the JAVA “Filed - Red Cut” design was to offer more sonic possibilities to musicians while keeping the qualities of the original Java.
More flexible than its elder version, with a little more tonal body, the JAVA “Filed - Red Cut” offers a full, rich, centered sound and excellent projection with an extremely precise attack.

Java red reed
Always use these on my Lawton metal mouthpiece for loads of projection.

Very nice
I really like Vandoren Java red reed. It gives plenty of tone flexibility. It can be quiet , can be loud. It is not screamy though and has got that nice mid range, stable tone.

Java Green, Red and ZZ
Two samples of Red were very different in strength. One was almost identical to Green. Green are easier to play, I thought was too buzzy to start with but getting to grips with. ZZ is harder for me to play but I will persevere.
